That’s just one of the many questions Heughan and Balfe were recently asked during a Q&A with IMDb—and we’re sure their answers are gonna surprise you! The 42-year-old Balfe responded first to the query, “Who should make a cameo on the show?"—a question that was suggested on Twitter by a real-life Outlander megafan named Maria—by saying emphatically, “Well, Susan Sarandon has said she’s a big fan. I would vote for her to come on… playing whatever she wants.” Heughan was pleasantly surprised by the news of Sarandon’s Outlander love, remarking, “That would be amazing.” But for his own answer, Heughan first thought, “It’d be good to have a singer, wouldn’t it?” Balfe, assuming Heughan was referencing one of his co-stars in his upcoming rom-com Text for You, said, “Would you call up Céline [Dion]?” Heughan said in response, “Could do, could do”—but then added, “Wouldn’t mind calling Dua Lipa.” Speaking of wish-casting Outlander, the two were also asked, “Who would you cast to play an older version of your characters?” Balfe’s pick? Oscar nominee Julie Walters, known for her roles in everything from Billy Elliott to Mamma Mia! As for the future Mr. Fraser, Balfe suggested Ed Harris—but Heughan nominated the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger, even breaking out a little bit of an Ah-nuld impression! Elsewhere in the fun Q&A, Heughan admitted that he still hadn’t had the chance to check out Balfe’s critically heralded performance in the 2021 feature film Belfast! After Balfe teased him relentlessly for that admission, he pretended to shout to someone off camera, “If you could put it into my schedule please, that would be great.” Outlander Season 6 is currently airing new episodes Sunday nights on Starz.
