Where is Three Pines filmed?

While the show is based in a fictional town, it is believed that the Three Pines is based on author Louise Penny’s hometown, Knowlton. The village is located in the town of Brome Lake in Southern Quebec. It is home to only a few thousand people and has a popular tourism industry due to skiing in the winter and its lakes in the summer. The town also boasts its connections to the novels. Canada’s Eastern Townships website lists several locations connected with the Gamache novels, including the Abbey of St. Benoit du Lac (below), Brome Lake Books and some of the local bistros. The town also hosts a guided tour that will take visitors to locations that apparently inspired the author’s works. Next, check out the 101 best murder mystery books of all time.
