Friday After Next (2002)

Crews pivoted to comedy in the third installment of the Friday films playing Damon Pearly, an ex-con who threatens harm to Craig (IceCube) if he doesn’t pay his mother the rent.

White Chicks (2004)

In this Wayans brothers comedy, he plays Latrell Spencer—a role Crews calls “the biggest hit of my entire life”—who sings VanessaCarlton’s “A Thousand Miles” to his fake heiress date in a scene he did in one perfect take.

Everybody Hates Chris (2005–09)

Crews was the first actor hired for this comedy, playing Julius Rock, the father of ChrisRock’s character, for four seasons.

Idiocracy (2006)

It took five auditions for Crews to get this part in the MikeJudge comedy, but he nailed his role as Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho, a former porn star and wrestler who has been elected president of the United States.

TheExpendables (2010)

He was “heavy weapons specialist” Hale Caesar opposite BruceWillis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and JasonStatham in SylvesterStallone’s action-thriller. He reprised the role in two sequels.

Old Spice commercials (2012)

His numerous over-the-top advertising campaigns for the men’s grooming brand—including the viral hit “Terry Chest Drum,” where his bulging muscles play the drums—once scared his son, Isaiah. “I was terrified by them!” he says.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–21)

For eight seasons, Crews played the soft-hearted squad dad Lt. Terry Jeffords on this hit AndySamberg comedy series, which aired its last episode in fall 2021.

America’s Got Talent (2019– )
