Back in 2020, Taco Bell removed the option from its menu in an effort to “simplify” the restaurant’s offerings and it ignited a fire under 200,000+ Mexican Pizza loyalists who launched petitions that demanded the company bring back the beef, bean and cheese pizza. Then, in May of this year, Taco Bell announced it would, in fact, be bringing the item back via a promotional video on TikTok shared by Doja Cat. But all didn’t go as planned when supply chain issues and increased demand for the product caused shortages in Taco Bell’s supply. Just a few days after its spring residency, Taco Bell claimed the demand for the Mexican Pizza was seven-times higher than when previously available—a statistic the company wasn’t prepared to serve, causing a delay on both the permanency of the menu item and the release of Mexican Pizza: The Musical starring Doja Cat and Dolly Parton. Thankfully, though, Taco Bell said it has officially sorted out its supply chain issues and will proudly welcome back the Mexican Pizza as a permanent menu option starting Sept. 15. As for the musical, the fast food chain told fans to “stay tuned.” “Taco Bell worked diligently to resolve depleted ingredients and supply chain challenges," the company shared in a statement. “The Mexican Pizza was returned to our menu in all its previous glory, complete with the same ingredients of seasoned beef and refried beans between two fried flour tortillas, topped with pizza sauce, our three-cheese blend and fresh diced tomatoes. When it returns later this summer, it’ll be with these same ingredients,” the statement added. Although Taco Bell faced some serious heat after flopping the initial return of the cultish menu item, it’s ready to laugh about it with fans. “For real this time. See you on 9/15,” the brand captioned an Instagram post. More News:
