On Tuesday, Nov. 23, Sam Heughan, who plays hot Scot Jamie Fraser on the hit Starz series, and co-star Graham McTavish (who plays William “Buck” MacKenzie) released the second book together, titled Clanlands Almanac: Seasonal Stories From Scotland. In a new BBC interview, Heughan described Clanlands Almanac as “a non-linear book, but it’s basically Scotland throughout a whole year. So each month, we visit some of the customs or the traditions that we like to celebrate in Scotland.” McTavish then added humorously, “A lot of which do involve drinking… There is a whisky mentioned every single month.” In a fantastic twist of fate, Clanlands Almanac also comes out the same day as Outlander author Diana Gabaldon’s latest tome in that series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. McTavish also revealed on Twitter that he and Heughan recorded the audiobook version of Clanlands Almanac themselves. Back in August 2021, the two Men In Kilts co-stars took to social media to share two slightly different covers for the old-school, paper version of the book—a U.S. version and a UK version—that’ll grace their second joint tome, following 2020’s Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other. “Whoo hooo!!!! COVER REVEAL,” Heughan tweeted alongside the two images, while McTavish added more calmly, “At last, all is revealed.” McTavish has promised that ClanlandsAlmanac will offer “a bracing plunge into all things Scottish.” Meanwhile, Heughan previously said about the book’s subject on Instagram, “The Almanac is an odyssey through the many byways of a Scottish year, an invitation to join us over 12 glorious, whisky-fueled months. In it you will find mountains, battles, famous (and infamous) Scots, the alarming competitiveness of Men in Kilts, clans, feuds, flora, fauna and a healthy sprinkling of embarrassing personal reminiscences (or the endless persist in winding up @grahammctavish). The Clanlands Almanac will be released on Nov. 23, 2021. Fans who pre-ordered the book at ClanlandsBook.com could get an exclusive edition of The Clanlands Almanac that includes “never-before-seen images of [Heughan and McTavish] printed on the book’s endpapers, plus a ribbon marker to keep your place!” The exclusive edition will be sold through Barnes & Noble in the U.S., Indigo in Canada and Waterstones in the UK.
