In only her second public appearance of 2022 (the first was at the NAACP Awards in February) Meghan Markle took our breath away in a stunning white suit by Valentino at a welcome reception in The Hague, which she andPrince Harry attended ahead of the opening of the Invictus Games this weekend. Meghan gave the classic power suit an update by going “slouchy” via an oversized blazer and wide-legged pants, the hems of which were tailored to hover perfectly above the ground. She accessorized the $5,300 ensemble with what appeared to be the white pumps by Aquazurra that she wore to her 2018 wedding reception, featuring a delicate shade of blue on the soles. In further nods to her wedding day in 2018, Meghan also wore her diamond Cartier studs and a diamond tennis bracelet that was a gift fromPrince Charlesshortly before Meghan and Harry’s marriage. Yesterday also saw the comeback of a symbolic pendant that Meghan wore during the three days in March 2020 that marked the end of the Sussexes’ lives in the UK, and their time as senior members of the royal family. The gold disc pendant by Sophie Lis Love features a ‘+’ (plus sign) in diamonds followed by the word ‘QU’HEIR’ (today) and a ‘-‘ (minus sign) in rubies followed by ‘QUE DEMAIN.’ Literally meaning “more than yesterday, less than tomorrow”, the necklace is inspired by an extract from a poem called “The Eternal Song” by 19th-century French poet Rosamonde Gerard. Translated into English, the extract reads “For today, you see, I love you more / more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.” On her wrist was Princess Diana’s gold Cartier tank watch, and a delicate gold chain bracelet that looped around one finger. The duchess also had a tan coat by Ralph Lauren with her—but ended up giving it to a woman to wrap her baby in against the cold of an April evening! Earlier this week, on their way to the Netherlands the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stopped by the UK for their first joint trip to the country since the aforementioned visit two years ago. It was confirmed by the couple’s spokesperson that they took the opportunity to visit Queen Elizabeth IIat Windsor Castle for the first time since relocating to California, and also visited Princess Eugenieand Jack Brooksbank in the Sussexes’ former marital home of Frogmore Cottage.
