Until then, here’s everything we know so far about Married at First Sight’s Season 13, including the couples, the spoilers and more.
Who are the Married at First Sight Season 13 couples?
Throughout Season 13, viewers will meet Myrla and Gil, Brett and Ryan, Bao and Johnny, Michaela and Zack, and Rachel and Jose. Check out the first trailer and get your first look at the couples below:
Myrla and Gil
Myrla, 34, is a leadership coach well-versed in successful partnerships, so she’s really putting all of her eggs in one basket: the experts’ basket! Myrla wholeheartedly believes the experts will help her find love. Gil, 35, was born and raised in Colombia and hopes to marry and continue to pursue the American dream. He considers himself a hopeless romantic ready for love.
Brett and Ryan
Originally from New Jersey, 33-year-old Brett considers Houston her home. She’s an avid watcher of the show and is really hoping her gut is right in trusting the process. Then there’s Ryan, 35, who grew up in a small Texas town within walking distance of his extended family and grandparents. Ryan sounds ready to get to the next point in life as he wants to be a young, involved father, and doesn’t want to wait much longer to start his family.
Bao and Johnny
Bao, 35, was born and raised in Texas to her Vietnamese refugee parents. Growing up, she didn’t seriously consider marriage, but after reaching her 30s, she’s changed her mind. Now open to finding love, Bao hopes the experts can find her a partner that can offer as much as she can. Johnny, also 35, was born in Houston and raised by his single mother. Divorce has had a significant impact on him his whole life and after seven years of trying the whole dating-app thing, Johnny is ready to try something new in order to find love.
Michaela and Zack
A successful realtor who calls Houston home, 30-year-old Michaela gets to sell newlyweds new homes on the regular. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride (or in this case, always the realtor and never the homeowner), she now feels it’s her turn. Zack, 27, hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but moved to Houston when he started becoming more serious about settling down. He originally wanted to tie the knot by age 25, he says, so he feels like time is ticking away.
Rachel and Jose
Rachel, 33, grew up as a happy child in Houston even though her parents did go through a divorce. As an adult, Rachel found herself feeling insecure while dating, but her last relationship opened her up to the possibility of love and marriage, even though that relationship ultimately ended. Joe, 35, grew up in Pearland to a middle-class family that struggled, he still, but always took care of him. Most of Joe’s dating experiences have resulted in frustration as he can’t seem to find a woman who wants anything long-term. With that behind him and his fate now in the hands of the experts, Joe is ready to get hitched and maybe even have a family one day.
Are there any Married at First Sight spoilers?
Warning: Spoilers ahead! The Season 13 trailer didn’t give much away, but it did include some pretty alarming audio that kinda serves as a spoiler. One of the grooms—we don’t know which one—apparently yells “I know her!” as his bride walks down the aisle. Looks like we’re going to have a repeat of Season 11 in which Bennett and Amelia already knew each other upon marrying at first sight. We also know that Season 13 will feature the franchise’s first Asian-American couple—Bao and Johnny—who will celebrate their marriage in a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony.
How many Married at First Sight episodes will there be in Season 13?
The show is filmed over an eight-week period in which couples have to ultimately decide if, come Decision Day, they want to stay married or get a divorce. In past seasons, this has usually culminated in 17 episodes, so we expect the same from Season 13.
What happened in Married at First Sight Season 12 and which couples are still together?
MAFS Season 12 was the most-watched season in franchise history on a single network with total viewers. If you were one of the many who tuned in, then you may recall the following five couples, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia: Ryan and Clara, Briana and Vincent, and Virginia and Erik, who all chose to stay married come Decision Day; as well as Haley and Jacob and Paige and Chris, who opted for divorce. Most dramatic of all, of course, was Paige and Chris’ Decision Day. Unsurprisingly to all who watched their ups and downs (and then ups again) throughout Season 12, Chris pulled out all the stops to make things as messy and drama-filled as possible. You’ll recall that very early on in the season—what was it, episode 2 or 3?—Chris announced that his ex-fiancée was pregnant with his baby. It created a whole lot of tension throughout the season; Chris told Paige he wanted to end their marriage pretty early on, then continued stringing her along, even facilitating a meet-up between Paige and his ex-fiancée. By the time Decision Day rolled around, Chris had another announcement: His ex-fiancée had lost the baby, he said, and he was uncomfortable making a choice to either stay married to or divorce Paige on Decision Day. After what Paige described as an hours-long day filming, she stepped in as the voice of reason, asserting to Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Viviana Coles, and Pastor Cal that “for her mental health,” she needed to divorce Chris. According to social media, the outcomes of all of these Decision Days appear to be the same. Ryan and Clara, Briana and Vincent, and Virginia and Erik all still appear to be together while Haley and Jacob and Paige and Chris are definitely still divorced.
