The 49-year-old shared a video of herself and Gabriella Morpeth–a friend and costume designer who worked on Beckinsale’s recent action film, Jolt, as well as Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi and the upcoming The Little Mermaid live-action adaptation–on Instagram. In the clip, the two relaxed in lounge chairs while wearing swimsuit tops and full-size pink, purple, and blue mermaid tails. As they sat back, they jammed to the Cher song, “The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s in His Kiss),” which was released in 1990 as part of the soundtrack of her film Mermaids. Beckinsale and Morpeth laughed and flapped their mermaid tails to the song, greatly enjoying their time together. Many people seemed to get a splash out of Beckinsale’s video, with over 74,000 people liking it, as of writing, including Michelle Pfeiffer. English television presenter Davina McCall, who hosted Big Brother UK for 10 years and currently hosts The Masked Singer UK, commented on the social media update, “Shut the front door. I need.” Many fans echoed this sentiment, with some inquiring as to where they can buy the tails or tagging their friends and telling them they need them for their next vacation. It looks like Beckinsale is taking a much-needed break from promoting her newest project, the film Prisoner’s Daughter, directed by Catherine Hardwicke and costarring Brian Cox, Ernie Hudson, and more. The English actress attended the movie’s premiere at Roy Thomson Hall during the Toronto International Film Festival, where she wore a bright pink dress with black latex sleeves. Next up, Beckinsale stars in the comedy film El Tonto, written and directed by Charlie Day. The film also stars comedy mainstays Jason Sudeikis, Ken Jeong, Jillian Bell, and Day and his wife Mary Elizabeth Ellis, as well as familiar names like John Malkovich, Adrien Brody, and Edie Falco.
