The original film came from the late John Hughes who passed away in 2009 and created a slew of classic motion pictures such as: Sixteen Candles, Home Alone, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and The Breakfast Club, among many others. Without Hughes, the spinoff will still be in good hands as the new creators who are on board-Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald–have also created popular hits–namely, Cobra Kai. The film is set to be produced by Paul Young (Key & Peele), Devon Young, Stephen Cedars, Benji Kleiman, and Scott Yacyshyn; and written by Bill Posley, winner of this year’s SXSW Midnighter’s Audience Award, according to Deadline. The new movie is said to follow the two valets (Sam and Victor) who took Matthew Broderick’s Ferrari for a joyride in the first film. IMDB identified the original valets as being portrayed by Richard Edson and the late Larry “Flash” Jenkins who passed away in 2019. According to statements shared with Deadline, younger actors are said to be taking on the roles of Sam and Victor to stick with the timeline of the film. In the original film, audiences watched as the two valets took the famous red Ferrari for a spin around town after Bueller and his friends were forced to leave the car in a parking garage. But now, after all these years, viewers will be able to follow the two thieving valets’ adventures.
