On Sept. 20, the addictive Netflix drama found the perfect way to let viewers know that the series has been renewed for two more seasons, sharing a cheeky video on Instagram in which star Martin Henderson gets down on one knee and “proposes” a fourth season to his onscreen love interest, Alexandra Breckenridge. “There’s something I’ve been really wanting to ask you… I want to get this right,” Henderson tells Breckenridge in the clip. “Do you want to do a Season 4?” A shocked Breckenridge replies, “Yes! I do!” She then adds as the two start to smile and break character, “I’ve been meaning to ask you: Do you want to do a Season 5?!?” Just in case you weren’t sure if they were joking, the video’s caption announced, “Season 4 and Season 5 picked up by Netflix! Thank each and everyone of you for all your support! We so appreciate it!” (Plus, Deadline confirmed the renewals the day before.) The announcement comes as sweet relief to fans of the Netflix smash who binged Season 3 and have been on the edges of their seats to find out what happens next for in Virgin River’s sleepy California town and among its colorful cast of characters. Based on the 21-novel (and counting!) series from Robyn Carr, the romantic drama follows midwife Mel (Breckenridge) through her on-again-off-again relationship with Jack (Henderson), as well as beloved side characters like Hope and Doc, who have to work through their own traumas.
