According to Deadline, the outcome for a 57th season is looking good, with an insider telling the outlet, “Everyone is proceeding under the assumption that the show will be back.” Days, which shoots on stages in Burbank, Calif., has already wrapped the final episodes of its 56th season, but work is progressing on future storyline and scripts as if the soap will move ahead for another year. But how much of the show will remain intact is also a question. During the last negotiation, which called for major cuts in the budget, the show saw the exit of several longtime cast members, including Kristian Alfonso and Melissa Reeves, but fan favorites Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn and John Aniston, who play Marlena, John and Victor respectively, still remain. Deadline also reports that negotiations could go on for a while since Days films far in advance, which is why it had original episodes to air during the COVID-19 shutdown. Days is NBC’s final soap opera and one of only four still on the air, along with ABC’s General Hospital, and CBS’ The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. There has been no official comment from any of the negotiating parties as yet. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Next, Why Kristian Alfonso Feels ‘Relief’ Leaving Days of Our Lives
