Katherine Barrell (Joy)
Barrell is known to legions of Wynonna Earp fans as Sheriff Nicole Haught. Sheriff Haught was one half of the couple known as WayHaught with the other half being Wynonna’s half-sister, Waverly. Coincidentally, she also played a character named Joy on Good Witch.
Alberto Frezza (Eric)
Born in Italy and raised in Ethiopia, Frezza is best known to audiences for his role as Ryan Tanner on Station 19, a spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy. A cancer survivor, Tanner has also appeared on Criminal Minds, Charlie’s Angels, and The Flight Attendant.
Katherine Barrell explains her own Godwink
Finding our new home was a Godwink," Barrell told Parade.com. “We just moved this past summer into a 125-year-old Victorian home that I am in love with! I have always wanted to live in a beautiful old house—it’s been a dream of mine! I was pregnant with our son and we had been looking for over a year losing out on several bids. We told our realtor to stop sending us listings because we thought that we were running out of time with the baby being due in the fall. We resigned ourselves to the fact that we would wait a few more years in our small condo while our son was a baby before trying to find a house again—much to my disappointment. A few weeks later, I got this weird urge to open my real estate app on my phone. I looked at the new listings in our target areas and this house popped up—it was so beautiful and exactly what we wanted: a lot of the original character intact (which is rare!) and hadn’t been touched by renovations for several decades. I told my husband we needed to go see it and he was very hesitant since we had seen so many already and I was pretty pregnant by then! I finally got him to agree and we traveled to see it only one day before offers were being accepted. We loved it so much and lingered past our showing time—just as we are about to leave the owner came in. We instantly clicked with him chatting about all the historic details that he tried to restore in the home over the years and how he had raised his now adult daughter there. I told him about our upcoming baby and that we hope to stay in the home for many, many years. We were in a nine-person bidding war but never knew it! We put a letter in with our offer explaining how we wanted to maintain the character of the home that the previous owner had worked so hard to restore. Apparently, he received several letters with offers and sent them all to his daughter. Without telling her who he preferred he asked her to pick, and she picked us! And he said, “That’s who I wanted to pick, too.”! He was so happy that a young family would be moving into the home and raising their child there he didn’t even ask the other offers to improve their bids, he just said, “I want this family to have it.”! Had I not followed that gut feeling and opened my real estate app that morning, seeing this listing only one day before offers were due and then meeting the owner we probably never would’ve gotten this dream house at all! We moved in two months before our son was born (and yes, we’re still renovating today!)

There are three other movies in the Godwink series so far. The original, A Godwink Christmas, was released in 2018. The following year, A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love premiered and last year A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love debuted.

Did the actors meet the real Joy and Eric who the movie is based on?
“Meeting Joy and Eric was so special,” Katherine Barrell said. “I have never worked on a project based on a true story before and it just elevated the sense of responsibility to tell their story and do it justice. They have such a sweet series of Godwinks in how they met and how their love blossomed. It was amazing to put faces to their names as well as several of the other characters! We even saw their wedding photos when they got married only weeks after the accident. I can’t wait for their family to see it—apparently their grandchildren are very excited! I remember asking them how it felt to have such an incredible love story that Hallmark made a movie about it! They just smiled.”
