The successful 39-year-old started out in the early 2000s with roles in movies like The Girl Next Door and House of Wax, but she very quickly gained attention for her looks, going on to appear in many publications geared towards male audiences, like Maxim and FHM. Cuthbert told Rachel Bilson and her best friend, Olivia Allen, while guesting on their podcast, Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson, that she felt pressured by studios to do the more revealing photoshoots. “There was really no option back then. That’s what the studio wanted you to do.” It didn’t matter if she wanted to do them or not.   Bilson chimed in, having gone through similar experiences. “My first photoshoot ever was for Stuff magazine. Those pictures are what circulate more than any other…And I’m like, horrified,” she said. Cuthbert also said that the sexualized photoshoots were very commonplace at the time. “We kinda ended up in a space at the time where that was really happening,” she said. “I mean, Halle Berry was doing it, for God’s sake … Jennifer Aniston was doing it.”  She continued, “We were probably too young to be subjected to that, and feeling pressured to do that.” The topic of the men’s magazine photoshoots came up when Allen referenced Cuthbert’s past titles of “most beautiful woman” or “sexiest woman,” such as when Maxim named her the “most beautiful woman on television” in 2013. “It’s not like I won an Olympic medal,” Cuthbert said of the labels. “It was just some list some random magazine decided to create.” The 24 actress now aims to be more positive and focus on her health. “At this point in my life, I’m working hard to stay in shape and be as healthy as I possibly can, especially with kids and life and age,” she said. “I feel like there are better ways to filter those times of the FHMs…Living up to these ridiculous standards, it’s just not reality.” More News:
