The 50-year-old officially received her star on Monday, Nov. 14, where she donned a chic black suit and carried a sparkling striped walking stick in her first public appearance since she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But while most of the attention was on Applegate’s shiny new star during the emotional ceremony, some fans couldn’t help but notice that the actress had no shoes or socks on, opting for a completely barefoot look. The Married…with Children star then took to social media the following day to explain the real reason she was barefoot, while also sharing some heartfelt snaps from the special day. “Barefoot,” Applegate captioned a photo of her feet standing on her brand new star, before revealing that her reason for ditching shoes had to do with her battle with MS. “For some with MS the feeling of shoes may hurt or make us feel off balance,” she explained, adding, “So today I was me. Barefoot.” She later shared another snap from the event, featuring herself and husband Martyn LeNoble, which was captioned, “My family. My people. All in doc martens. But me and my tiny toes !” During Monday’s ceremony, Applegate was accompanied by some of her former co-stars on Married…with Children, including Katey Segal, Amanda Bearse and David Faustino. Her “MS sister” and The Sweetest Thing costar Selma Blair, who was also diagnosed with the central nervous system disease herself in 2018, also showed up in support of the actress, along with her Dead to Me co-star, Linda Cardellini. Applegate told Variety during the ceremony that her diagnosis wasn’t going to stand in the way of finishing Season 3 of the hit Netflix drama. “We have to finish this story. It’s too important to our hearts; too important to our souls. And we have to give this gift, not only to ourselves — there are people that love these characters, and we’ve got to let them have their closure too,” she told the outlet, as Parade reported. She then went on to say, “So, if that meant me having to take a break in the middle of the day so I could go sleep — or me just leaving because I couldn’t do anymore — then that’s what we had to do.” More News:
