Handler shared a pre-recorded video featuring the 51-year-old as they prematurely celebrated their first anniversary. In the video, Handler starts off, “Hey, guess what! We’re celebrating,” as Koy joins in and they announce in unison that they are celebrating their “one year anniversary together.” Handler poses the question, “Honey, what have you learned in the last year about being in a relationship with your lover?” Koy doesn’t hesitate, responding, “That it’s fun to be in love, and always be in the moment,” as Handler responds with, “well you’re the one that taught me to always be in the moment honey because you can’t….” Before Handler is able to finish her sentence, Koy holds up a fake plastic hand, shushing Handler and accidentally bumping her in the tooth. The two erupt in laughter as he confirms that she’s okay before the video comes to a hilarious end. Along with the pre-recorded video, Handler shared a heartwarming statement regarding the split, proving that they ended things on good terms. “This man blew my heart open with love,” Handler confessed, adding, “Because of him, my life experience has changed forever. To be loved and adored by @jokoy has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.” The comedian clarified that “he renewed my faith in men, in love, in being 100% who I am, and I’ve never been more optimistic for the future.” Handler went on to write a message to Koy, stating, “Jo- you blew my creativity open, my lust for working hard again, being on the road again, and you reminded me who I was and always have been, and my feet have never been more firmly planted in the ground.” Before ending the statement she noted, “This is not an ending. It’s another beginning, and it’s a comfort to know that I am still loved and love this man the way the sun loves the moon and the moon loves the sun.” Handler also gave some hope to others looking for their soulmate, stating, “YOUR PERSON IS COMING.” She finished off the post by asking people to “please continue to root for both of us,” noting, “because you never know what life will bring” The comedian also showed support for her now ex-boyfriend, writing, “let’s first start by all going to the theater on August 5th to buy tickets to Jo’s new movie EASTER SUNDAY and Filipino PRIDE! Let’s go!” Handler and Koy first began dating back in September 2021, but her feelings for the stand-up comic didn’t start there! In October 2021, Handler spoke about Koy on her Dear Chelsea podcast where she revealed that she had feelings for him two decades prior, in 2007, when they worked together on her talk show, Chelsea Lately. Preceding her romance with Koy, Handler was previously in a relationship with TV executive Ted Harbert from 2006 to 2010. In 2011 she started seeing Andre Balazs before calling it quits two years later. Handler was also briefly linked to 50 cent in between her relationships with Harbert and Balazs.
