In posts made on Instagram, Spears had a lot to say about Federline’s recent interview, writing that everything he said was: “Only one word: HURTFUL.” Federline spoke with Daily Mail about Spears and their two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, saying that the kids “have decided they are not seeing [Spears] right now.” He then said, “It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.” Spears responded to her ex-husband’s decision to discuss familial matters publicly in a story shared to Instagram. “It saddens me to hear that my ex husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children… As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone.” She also expressed frustration at Federline’s claim that the pop star’s recent Instagram posts have anything to do with the stress on her relationship with her kids. In his interview, Federline shared concern over the impact Spears’ risqué Instagram posts has on their now teenage sons. “I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s tough…I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.” Federline also said that he believes Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, “saved her life” with the conservatorship and that he “would absolutely welcome Jamie Spears back in the boys’ lives.” Spears wrote back, in defense of her decision to bare-it-all on social media, and suggested that her relationship with her children has been in jeopardy for some time despite her best efforts. “It concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram … it was LONG before Instagram … I gave them everything.” She continued: “My mother told me ‘You should GIVE them to their dad,’” but the singer didn’t elaborate on what she meant or offer further context to this statement. Along with the statements shared via stories, Spears posted a separate message on her Instagram feed. In it, the singer referenced a quote from the interview from her sons’ stepmother, Victoria Prince who said, “Whatever is happening outside has nothing to do with this home.” “I would like to share [that] the DOOR to outside is a token to the WHITE GATES I’ve been kept from for 15 years … the conservatorship has only been over for 8 months,” Spears replied. The 40-year-old newlywed continued: “I’m only human and I’ve done my best…Other artists have made much worse when their children were extremely young.” A longtime friend of Spears and guest at her recent wedding to Sam Asghari, Paris Hilton, commented a comforting message on the post and was joined by hundreds of Spears’ fans. “Love you Angel. So sorry you have to go through this😔 Sending you so much love and support💗,” Hilton wrote. “icons supporting icons 💝,” one adoring fan wrote back. “that’s what she needs, love & support! ❤️,” a second said.
