According to a news release from the agency, the bounce house has a yellow hoop attached to a green pillar inside, which has been found to create a risk of “entrapment and strangulation” to children. It appears to potentially function as a basketball-style hoop for the balls in the attached ball pit, but the product was tested by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and failed to meet the organization’s standard intended to “reduce the risk of accidental head or neck entrapment in inflatable play devices.” The announcement comes after a four-year-old boy reportedly died after getting tangled up in the hoop on the bounce house. “The hoop became entangled and twisted, constricting the boy’s airway, resulting in strangulation and death,” the agency stated. They are also aware of another incident of a child being entrapped in the hoop, although they were not injured. While the brand has not formally recalled the product at this time, the agency is urging consumers to halt the purchase and sale of these bounce houses and to “dispose of these products immediately.” More News:
