The streaming giant announced a new competition series called Squid Game: The Challenge on June 14, 2022. Netflix released a quick teaser of the show, which is a spinoff reality competition of the super successful Korean drama that took over the world. Describing the upcoming series, Netflix said, “With the largest cast in reality TV history, 456 real players will enter the game in pursuit of a life-changing cash prize of $4.56 million.” So how exactly do you become a part of Squid Game: The Challenge? Just like how mysterious the game is in the original show, there’s not much information about Squid Game: The Challenge yet. However, at the end of the first teaser, Netflix shared a link to the casting site, SquidGameCasting.com. If you go to the site, you’ll see the Netflix reality series’ name, followed by the iconic symbols of Squid Game: a circle, triangle, and square. Underneath the symbols are links for U.S., U.K. and global casting. The page says, “For this round, the Front Man is in search of English-language speakers from any part of the world. The stakes are high, but in this game, the worst fate is going home empty-handed.” The application requests a one-minute video introducing yourself, a headshot and other pictures, and general information like your name and contact information. And don’t worry, Netflix made sure to say, “Please note: Win or lose, all players will leave unscathed. But if you win, you win big!” Netflix With Squid Game: The Challenge, Netflix seeks to take advantage of the amazing popularity of Squid Game, announcing the new reality competition right after confirming that a Season 2 of the drama has been greenlit. Season 1 starred Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Oh Young-soo, and Wi Ha-joon, among many others, though most of the original cast is unlikely to return given the fates of their characters.
